My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SKY****CONTACT KAT katkylabrescue@gmail.com****SKY IS A BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL 2 YR. OLD, AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD. IF YOU PUT TOGETHER A "WISH LIST" OF EVERY TRAIT YOU COULD EVER ASK FOR IN A PUP CHANCES ARE IT WOULD BE SKY. FIRST OF ALL SHE IS SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL SHE WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY, SHE IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY MARKED PUPS WE HAVE SEEN. HER COAT IS SO SOFT IT FEELS LIKE VELVET A MYRIAD OF GORGEOUS COLORS, SPARKLING GLACIER WHITE, SLATE GRAY, WARM SUN-KISSED HONEY AND HIGH GLOSS BLACK. THESE COLORS WHEN COMBINED IN THE AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD ARE REFERRED TO AS "BLUE MERLE". SKY'S MARKINGS ARE SO STRIKING SHE LOOKS LIKE AN ARTIST HAND PAINTED THIS PUP. HER EYES WILL MAKE YOU MELT THEY ARE GORGEOUS THEY TRULY SPARKLE LIKE A MILLION STARS WHEN SHE SEES YOU. THIS LITTLE GIRL COMES WITH A BUILT IN GUARANTEE. WE GUARANTEE YOU WILL SMILE THE MINUTE YOU SEE HER AND WORDS LIKE "OH, SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL" WILL COME GUSHING OUT OF YOUR MOUTH. ALSO DON'T PLAN ON KEEPING YOUR HEART WHEN YOU START TO PAT THIS GORGEOUS "LOVE ME" LITTLE GIRL BECAUSE WITHIN MINUTES SHE WILL STEAL IT. THE MINUTE YOU CALL HER NAME OVER TO YOU SHE'S COMING, HER PAWS MOVING AS FAST AS SHE CAN GO WHICH IS PRETTY FAST, HER EYES WILL BE TWINKLING WITH EXCITEMENT, TAIL WAGGING OR IN SKY'S CASE HER WHOLE BODY IS JUST ONE BIG WIGGLE. SHE WILL TURN HER INQUISITIVE HEAD TO ONE SIDE AS IF SHE'S SAYING "HI I'M SKY--WANNA PLAY?!!" A PAT ON THE HEAD OR A TENNIS BALL TO CHASE AND NOW SKY HAS ADOPTED YOU AS HER NEW BEST FRIEND. THIS LITTLE GIRL NEVER MEETS A STRANGER, CHILDREN(WHICH SHE ADORES) TO SENIORS ARE IMMEDIATELY HER NEW BEST BUDDY. SHE ALSO ADORES ALL DOGS, DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SIZE THE ONLY REQUIREMENT SHE HAS IS THAT THEY WILL PLAY WITH HER. TO WATCH SKY AND A DOGGIE PLAY BUDDY RUN, TUMBLE PLAYING WITH THEIR TOYS WILL INDEED BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE. SKY HAS A GLOWING PERSONALITY AND DISPOSITION, SHE IS ONE OF THE SWEETEST GIRLS WE HAVE SEEN. IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO MAKE SKY HAPPY, SOME TOYS, A YARD TO RUN AND PLAY IN AND HER BEST FRIEND "YOU"!! NOT ONLY A GORGEOUS LOOKING GIRL NOW LET'S ADD SMART TO THE MIX. THE AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD IS ONE OF THE SMARTEST BREEDS AND BOY SKY HAS "SMART" COVERED. SHE IS AN EXTREMELY FAST LEARNER, A LITTLE GIRL WHO LISTENS WELL, EAGER TO LEARN, WANTING TO PLEASE. SHE IS A TRUE OPEN BOOK READY TO LEARN ANYTHING YOU WANT TO TEACH HER. SHE IS SUCH A SOCIAL GIRL, YOU COULD TAKE HER ANYWHERE AND SHE WOULD FIT RIGHT IN, TAKE HER TO THE PARK SO SHE COULD MEET SOME NEW BEST PLAY BUDDIES, IF IT WAS YOUR DAY TO TAKE THE CHILDREN TO SCHOOL JUST GRAB THIS PRECIOUS PUP, A MILK BONE OR TWO AND TAKE OFF. SKY IS A PUP THAT HER FIRST DAY WITH YOU YOU WOULD THINK SHE HAD ALWAYS BEEN A PART OF YOUR LIFE. IF YOU ARE HOPING TO ADD TO YOUR FAMILY A BEAUTIFUL GIRL WHO IS PLAYFUL--LOYAL--HAPPY--FUN--SMART AND OH YES DROP DEAD GORGEOUS THEN LOOK NO FURTHER YOU'VE FOUND SKY. Additional adoption info

Application, followed by an interview either by phone or home visit.

BEFORE YOU APPLY:
All known information about an individual dog is provided in it's listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters must understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be.

Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for:
1.) Flexible schedules for potty training. Puppies can only "hold it" for one hour per month of age (ex. a 4 month old puppy can only go 4 hours without a potty break).
2.) Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old, to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise.
3.) Socialization: The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home.
4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded tenfold, for years to come.
Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy.
Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time consuming, and can be expensive.

All Dogs Require:Supervision with children and obedience training.
Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well socialized dog is more than worth the effort put in to get them there.

Most of the puppies and dogs are vetted, fostered and lovingly cared for in the home state in which they were rescued.
