My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rico is a charming 3-year-old Shepherd mix looking for his forever home! With his strong build and striking features, he’s not just a handsome face -- he’s a devoted companion ready to bring joy and protection to his new family.

Temperament: Rico is social and enjoys the company of other dogs, making him a great addition for families with furry friends. While he’s friendly and affectionate, he can be protective when the situation calls for it, making him an excellent watchdog for your home.

Training & Behavior: Fully trained and house-trained, Rico excels on the leash, making walks an enjoyable experience for both him and his owner. He has a normal barking pattern, primarily used for protection, reflecting his loyal nature.

Grooming: Rico has a low-shedding coat, which makes grooming easier and helps keep your home fur-free. He's an ideal choice for those looking for a canine companion without the hassle of excessive shedding!

Background: Rico was surrendered by his owner due to age-related circumstances, but he remains a loving and affectionate dog, ready to find a new family to adore. He is not cat-tested, but his social nature may allow for a successful introduction.

Why Adopt Rico? If you're looking for a social, loyal, and well-trained dog, Rico is the perfect match! He’s ready to bring happiness and companionship to your life.

More about this rescue

Bone Voyage is a non-profit rescue group created to send Mexican dogs north to better homes. We work with the local shelters and with people in the Lake Chapala area that have many street dogs in their care.

We also assist individuals that find street dogs and don’t know what to do with them. We are all volunteers working together to try to minimize the amount of homeless dogs in the area.
