My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lady Supreme ACCT-A-208195 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Lady Supreme must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, EXPERIENCED FOSTER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, December 31st at 10 A.M. Should Lady’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Lady Supreme is a sweet but timid soul in need of a patient and understanding home. She was brought to the shelter on 12/1/24 by an Animal Protection Officer after being found on someone’s porch. Adjusting to new environments has been challenging for her, but with gentle encouragement and a calm approach, she has shown glimpses of trust and potential. While initially nervous, Lady Supreme responds well to high-value treats like hot dogs, which help her feel more at ease. Though she isn’t quick to seek affection, she tolerates handling and has even leaned in for neck scratches when given time to relax.

In the shelter, she has displayed moments of bravery and progress. She walks nicely on a leash and has calmly met other dogs without issues. Volunteers and staff describe her as shy but tolerant, needing a slow approach and plenty of encouragement to gain confidence. In quieter settings, she will cautiously approach for treats and allows gentle handling, but she’s still learning to fully trust people. Lady Supreme is recommended for a home with children aged 15 and older and would thrive in a calm, understanding environment with someone willing to help her blossom.

Lady Supreme has been waiting since 12/1/24 and urgently needs a foster, adopter, or rescue to provide her with the safe haven she deserves. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will reward your patience with quiet loyalty, Lady Supreme could be the perfect match for you.

Behavior Notes:
Per staff 12/16/24: Lady Supreme is a timid girl who needs a calm, understanding home. She’s nervous in new environments and can take time to warm up, but with gentle encouragement, she’s responsive and allows handling. She enjoys high-value treats like hot dogs, which help her feel more at ease. Though she’s not quick to lean in for affection, Lady Supreme will open up with time and patience.

If you’re looking for a quiet companion who will flourish with love, Lady Supreme might be the gal pal for you!

Per staff 12/8/24: Lady Supreme was easy to leash and walked well outside. We were trying to do a meet with Bru who was really nervous, but she sniffed his hind end and he later sniffed hers. No issues returning to kennel.

Per staff 12/4/24:
Lady Supreme is a shy girl who needs someone to take things slow and help her open up. She was nervous in kennel, and ran tot he other side when I called her. I lowered the divider and went around. When I reached in with the leash she ducked her head away initially, but after a few seconds allowed me to over the head leash her without an issue. She came right out once secured and walked nicely through the kennels. Unfortunately when we got tot eh door to outside she got spooked, and backed away thrashing her head in fear. I took her around to another door and she was nervous around new people we passed. She would freeze and cower a bit, but could be encouraged with baby talk to keep going. Once we got outside she seemed even more uncomfortable and stressed than inside, so we just took a quick stroll to see if she had to potty before going back inside. We went tot eh eval room for a few minutes, and Lady Supreme kept her distance at first. When I crouched down she approached me and allowed some head and body pets. She tolerated them, but never leaned in, and was still a little uncomfortable. I heard that she liked hot dogs, and boy does she! She came right up for hot dogs and took them very gently. When it was time to go back she hopped right into kennel without an issue! Overall, Lady Supreme is a shy, timid girl that needs lots of time and love to show her true self.

Per volunteer 12/3: Lady supreme was very nervous in her kennel and it took me about 5 minutes just to leash her. She takes treats so I would try to drop treats near my leash but that took a while to get it perfect. After we were out I took her into the behavioral room where she really didn’t want any parts of me. She kept her distance and I let her. I threw treats on the ground and she ate them still keeping her distance. I could tell she was uncomfortable so I brought her back to her kennel and she was easy going in and easy to unleash. I hope to try again to see if she can get more comfortable with me and gain more confidence.

Per staff 12/2/24:
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Lady was nervous when approaching her in kennel. She was sitting on her bed with wide eyes, a tense body, tucked tail and semi raised hackles. I lowered her divider upon approach and she came to the front remaining nervous. When I opened to leash her she retreated and did some pacing back and forth before coming forward again. She lowered her head as I leashed her but allowed me to slip it over her head ears to snout without issue.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally

HANDLING:
Once in the room I held Lady on leash for the first few minutes as I got to know her better. She had a tense body, low tail, semi raised hackles, but soft squinty eyes. She was not tense towards me, but instead appeared more nervous of her surroundings. She stood calmly beside me and when offering her treats she would readily take turkey from my hand and was gentle when taking it. The treats really helped her to gain trust with me and throughout our time together she sat calmly, maintaining soft eye contact with me. I took handling slow with her, using treats to gain trust, but she was tolerant to full body handling and even leaned in as I scratched her neck! She was very tolerant while out, just needed a slow approach and snacks to help her gain confidence.
