My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Reef (black, neutered male) and Sunlee (brown/white tiger, spayed female). These two siblings were originally brought in as semi older kittens from an unsafe cat colony in June of 2023. The shelter and one amazing volunteer worked tirelessly to help get the cat colony under more control as it was becoming unsafe for the amount of cats living there. Reef and Sunlee were at the hard age where they were around 12 weeks old, meaning they were on the edge of being too old to tame in foster world but also so young to have to try to fend for themselves in the environment they were born into. They ended up going to foster care where they really struggled to adjust for many weeks, as they got older and got used to the routine, they started to settle in on their own terms. They would come down and join the foster family during the quieter hours and were even starting to sneak onto their laps for some love before feeling overwhelmed and leaving again. Their foster mom did say they loved the other house cats, are bonded to each other, enjoyed playing with toys and sunbathing is a definite favorite!
Unfortunately during the summer, the foster family`s home developed a major leak during one of the big storms, resulting in much of the house needing dried out and gutted. Understandably Reef and Sunlee had to come back to the shelter. They have been here since and are not thriving in the shelter environment at all. Adopting out cats like them are very difficult as most people are looking for lap cats or silly kittens; few people are looking for two cats that will need continued time and patience as they adjust to yet another change in their lives. We have had some amazing adoptions over the years though of cats just like these two and know a family is out there for them, now we just need to find it!
