My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

PURRS ABOUND SIAMESE RESCUE OF MICHIGAN,INC.

Lapeer, MI

Meet Bubble Yum!

Bubble Yum is one of 12 cats rescued from a hoarding situation in Lapeer after their owner was hospitalized. Most of the cats in the home had been thrown outside by the man's family, and we were told there were none left inside. We are grateful we checked inside the home, because there were not one but TWO cats left inside, deep in hiding, including Bubble Yum who was carefully and skillfully pulled from a cabinet in the kitchen.

This poor, sweet girl is still learning life outside the garbage-filled home she was living in, and because of this, she is looking for a very special home, one full of patience and understanding. If you're that beautiful person looking for the cat that everyone looks over in the shelter, this is your girl. Bubble Yum is EXTREMELY shy, and quick movements will send her hiding even from the people she knows best. She will come out for her foster mom for canned food, but she prefers to keep her distance otherwise. She is not likely to be a lap cat, but more of a beautiful little buff-colored, living decoration in your home... A mostly look-but-don't-touch kind of decoration. In return for keeping her food bowls filled, she will gift you with the occasional physical interaction, allowing touch while eating, and fleeting moments of interactive play with her humans. With time, she will improve, however this will be a very slow process for her.

Cat friendly.
Dogs unknown.
No young children, please.

Bubble Yum is fully vetted including spay, microchip, vaccines, and a negative FeLV and FIV combo test. She is ready to find her perfect, patient forever family. Please understand that a meet and greet will absolutely not show you her real personality - she will hide in a tiny ball in her carrier and will likely allow a potential adopter to hold her out of paralyzing fear, however once home and settled, she will need time for touch and interaction to happen again.

Please consider this hidden little gem for adoption. We know she's a tough case, but we also see moments of love and adoration from this misunderstood little girl, and we know in the right hands that she will become a loving, trusting little house cat. Providing this sweet girl with a forever home and allowing her to blossom into the best flavor of Bubble Yum she can be, is truly what "rescue" is all about.

Go meet their pets

Purrs Abound does not have a facility at this time. All of our Purr Guests live normal lives with foster families located throughout Michigan and into North Western Ohio. We feel that this is a better environment for these people-oriented cats and also allows us to evaluate their personalities under normal living conditions. One day, however, we do hope to obtain funds that would allow us to have a temporary facility where cats could live in a home-like environment while awaiting a foster home. If you would like to help us attain that goal, please feel free to send donations to our Post Office Box noting on the check that they are for our "Facility Fund."

More about this rescue

Purrs Abound Siamese Rescue of Michigan, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Purrs Abound was founded in March 2001 out of a love for Siamese cats and a desire to rescue Siamese cats from shelters and animal control facilities. In addition, Siamese cats do poorly in shelter environments because of their need for close human interaction. These frightened cats and kittens are placed into loving foster homes where we can give them time to begin their rehabilitation and ready themselves for their new forever homes.
