My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you love being busy outside? Gus sure does! He's a friendly and energetic dog who is looking for a loving home where he can be your adventure buddy. He's not your typical laid back lab, he's very athletic and really enjoys learning while he's playing. He's mastered the game of fetch and we've been using it as motivation to help him learn some new skills. We ask him to sit, lay down, or something new we're working on, and reward it with throwing the ball for him. This is working really well and is a fun way to play and learn together. He is also quite food motivated and loves searching for hidden treats with his powerful nose. He will excel at most dog sports and will be super fun to work with.
Gus is still learning about leash manners, and is making progress with his harness training but still needs a few gentle reminders during the walk. He will need some ongoing practice with his leash manners before he really masters this skill. Gus would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can run, explore safely and brush up on some of the skills he hasn't had a chance to learn yet.

Gus is a busy, intelligent dog with so much potential to thrive in the right environment that has the time and consistency to put into him. If you're looking for a dog who will grow into an incredible companion with some patience and love, Gus could be the perfect fit for you!

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:
