My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darla is the epitome of an snuggle bug family girl. This happy girl has a gentle love for kids, a glowing love of people and a playful passion for chase. At home, Darla is sweet and affectionate, happily curling up for cuddles or lounging on the couch when invited. Out in the yard or on an adventure, her happy spirit shines, and you will see it in her bounce. Take a peek at her here- https://youtu.be/mdaXKHvOrys

Darla has been lucky to wait for her forever family in a lively foster home with young children (ages 5 and 2), regular guests, and a doggie-playmate. Her foster family shares that Darla is mindful and gentle with kids and is both crate- and house-trained. She welcomes guests with an incredibly warm, friendly energy. If you have a doors-always-open house, Darla will be more than happy to be the greeting committee. Darla lives with a cat, though their interactions have been limited due to the cat’s tendency to hide. When she met a confident, dog-savvy orange cat, Darla showed interest which peeked as he moved around, we would say a cat-free home would be best. Her love of chase and cat-curiosity would likely lead to a bit of chaos.

Darla thrives around other dogs, showing her playful side quickly! She loved the bouncy playful dogs and has a boisterous approach to play. In her foster home, she lives harmoniously with an similarly sized dog as well as a Chihuahua, proving she’s small-dog friendly. Darla also has no trouble sharing toys or treats with other dogs, which only adds to her happy, harmonious energy. On leash, Darla walks well, showing some excitement when passing another dog but she is easily corrected and will continue on with no trouble. When allowed to great another dog on leash she shows her playfulness but has great dog-manners and is very polite.

Darla’s love for people is undeniable. She is the type of dog that has and never will meet a stranger. Darla’s future family will find her to be a joyful, social companion. She’s perfect for an active home with a moderately playful dog and a yard where she can bounce and play to her hearts content. Plus, a yard means backyard parties and she is looking forward to those!

Darla, her happy face and warm energy, will bring something special to your home and family. Adopt her today!

We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews:
https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2-acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs' adoption ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs, and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non-profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
