My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hello, my name is Count Von but you can call me Von or Vonny for short! I am a 6 month old black lab/hound mix. I am a small/petite guy at only about 30 pounds. Unfortunately, I did not have the best start to life as I was just skin and bones when I came into rescue. But, things have definitely changed for me as my foster mom has made sure I have had plenty of food to eat and oh how I love those things they call treats, she gives me lots of those!! My foster mom says that my fur coat is soft and starting to shine and that my big, beautiful brown eyes are starting to show a smile. Let me tell you more about me,  I am a quiet guy, sometimes my foster mom even forgets I am in the room. I can entertain myself playing with a toy or chewing on a bone, but I also enjoy playing with my foster siblings. I love exploring outside but I feel safest when my human is with me so we can explore together. I am crate trained and I sleep in it at night without a peep as long as you give me one of those treats I told you about, but that is not to say I wouldn’t want to share a warm bed with you if you were interested. I am about 90% potty trained and as long as you keep me on a schedule and take me often we shouldn’t have a problem, but be patient with me as I am learning my new home. But, the most important things to know about me are that I love when my foster mom gives me pets and tells me I am a good boy. I also enjoy being cuddled and I give the best kisses!! As much as my foster mom doesn’t want to see me go, she knows it is time for me to find a family of my own so that she can go on to save another just like me. So, would you like to be my forever family, I am taking applications now! Apply today at BuffaloCares.org,

Love, Vonny

The Adoption process:
*Submit your online adoption application
* If you already have pets in your home, they must be up to date on their vaccinations.
*Once the reference & vet checks are complete and approved, we will be in contact to schedule a home visit and/or meet & greet with the animal you are interested in. All members of the family including any current pets must be present.
*Based on your references, home visit and meet & greet, we will approve or deny your application to adopt or recommend a different animal who may be a better fit for your home.
*If approved, we will set up a date for you to adopt your new companion animal. If an animal is not yet spayed/neutered, we will set up your adoption for a time after they have been altered. We will not adopt out any animal until they have been spayed/neutered unless the animal is determined, by our veterinarian, unable to be spayed/neutered due to a medical condition or that it would be a danger to their well being.
