Another puppy that "aged out" when the breeder couldn't get him sold. That's been the theme this year. But Pascal is perfect & now that he has a rescue & a foster home, we will find the perfect forever home for him!
Pascal was a bit timid and shy when he first came into his foster home. It took a few days for him to understand what a human was and that they were not going to hurt him. He quickly warmed up and now stands up for his foster mom to pick him up.
We like to remind applicants that a new puppy is a lot like a toddler. They need to be supervised, and the best way to do that is to have a dedicated space set up for them. This area will be a part of the home where they can see activity & observe, but it is a place that is puppy proofed. Where they can play, lounge, or nap when their family is not directly engaging with them. Playpens, 4-squares, or x-pens are excellent tools to make this possible. Pascal has been in a playpen called Northstates play yard.
Pascal enjoys running in the secured physical fenced yard with his foster friends. However, we are open to discussing an x-pen if you do not have a fenced yard, since he is not leashed trained and will need secure containment immediately. Pascal has worn a harness but does not know what to do while wearing it so this will be a work in progress that he will learn eventually. If you have a fence, it needs to be completely secure & enclosed, no gaps. NEVER EVER should Pascal or any puppy be left in a yard without supervision. If you have interior stairs, please have a plan to keep your puppy off the stairs unsupervised. Additionally, please be aware of the stair railing & the distance between the spindles.
Pascal is doing well on potty training but it is still a work in progress and will require commitment & patience from his new family. Remember puppies have a little puppy bladders and new home, new environment means that new habits will have to be established. A home with low alone hours will greatly help him continue to learn.
Bringing home a new puppy is a huge responsibility that requires oodles of time! But it is very rewarding if everyone is invested. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt a sweet reserved little puppy. Please don’t apply without speaking to your spouse/partner first.
