About me: I’m a medium stocky boy at just 55lbs, and it is suspected that I have endured an abusive past. I came in very fearful of men and still have my moments, but, I have a very loving foster dad that is showing me love and snuggles and I am responding to it very well. Since I am finally getting the attention I deserve, I had surgery to remove an annoying bump on my arm - it turned out to be a bullet! So you can only imagine my history.
I now like to curl up on the couch with him for cuddles and give him kisses. My foster mom is the best, she feeds me and is patient when I need a little more time to do things the other dogs are doing. I can now sit most of the time when asked and have all but stopped running away from hand signals so it’s easier for me to learn. I would say I’m still very cautious and will need time to trust you. I am very scared to go for a walk on the leash and won’t be able to do that until I can trust you by my side out there in the big scary world.
Even though I’m fearful of people I have not shown signs of being aggressive, I’m more likely to run and hide. I don’t really understand toys yet but once I am settled I bet they will be so much fun.
Likes: New dog friends. I love other dogs, so much that I kiss them and get in their space bubble. Bum scratches are the best.
Dislikes: Loud talkers, going for walks or men that I don’t know.
Special request: Patience and a gentle approach. I have dry skin but it’s been better when I eat fish or lamb. Chicken makes me itchy.
Kennel trained: No
House trained: Yes
Dogs: Yes, I loved all the dogs I have met so far, I am most comfortable meeting people with another dog around. Since I now like getting attention so much, I do try and push my way in between the other dogs and humans so I think, with the right family, I could be very happy without another dog in the home. I want all the affection but I’m not concerned about sharing my food. I have not done any resource guarding in my current foster home.
Cats: Not tested, let’s say no.
Children: Not tested but older would be better. As I am getting braver I like to nibble on my foster mom’s fingers to get her attention. It might be a bit to hard for a child and I wouldn’t want to hurt them unintentionally.
