This Paso Fino’s name is Caddie! Caddie came to Longmeadow in September after her owner passed away. After a month spent in a routine quarantine, this chestnut mare was ready to be evaluated by our trainers!
Upon evaluation, our trainers found that Caddie was very pleasant on the ground. She stood nicely for tacking up and had good ground manners when being led in and out of the arena. Caddie would stand tied well when she had a buddy by her side. When she was working in the arena with our trainers, they found Caddie to be respectful. She would pay attention to her handler and focus on the task at hand.
Under saddle, our trainers found Caddie to be quite the hot mare! She was ready to gait off the moment her rider got on. We believe she did not have much experience standing next to a mounting block at her previous home and was most likely mounted from the ground. She has been ridden both inside and outside here at the Ranch. Before coming to Longmeadow, we were told she enjoyed time spent on the trails. While Caddie can get distracted at times while being ridden outside, our trainers found her to be intelligent and willing to please when corrected. Caddie would be a great lead line horse for a child with a confident handler. If being ridden independently, Caddie would need a confident intermediate rider.
To help maintain a healthy weight, Caddie will need a grazing muzzle or a dry lot at her adopter’s home. She has laminitis and will need continued corrective trimming and front shoes in order for her to be sound/comfortable enough to ride.
Adoption Fee: $700 Height: 13.1hh Maximum Carrying Weight (includes tack and rider): 170lbs
