My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 08/01/2023) Berkley, the handsome heartt hrob of the dog world! This GSD mix is growing up into a total stunner—his shiny, silky coat and those perky ears are just the beginning! Not to mention, his smile is enough to melt anyone’s heart.

Berkley is an active young guy who’s all about daily walks, playtime, and fun adventures with his family. Whether it’s running around the yard, hiking through the trails, or playing fetch, he’s ready to make every day an adventure. This sweet boy is just looking for the right family to take him home and give him all the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion to share your active lifestyle and your heart with, Berkley is your guy! ! He’s a little on the submissive side, which just means he’s extra eager to please and will melt your heart with his gentle nature. Berkley is the ultimate toy sharer, and he LOVES playtime—whether it’s chasing tennis balls, showing off his best victory strut with one proudly in his mouth, or sharing a good game of tug-of-war. While a fenced yard would be a dream come true for him to run around and burn off some energy, it's not a deal-breaker. Berkley just loves to move, and he’s perfectly content with daily walks, where he can stretch his legs, explore the world, and meet new friends (human and dog alike).

He’s a big boy, with big ears, with an even bigger heart, and who just LOVES being with his people. Whether you’re chilling on the couch, playing in the yard, or out on a fun adventure, Berkley is your ride-or-die sidekick! Berkley would do best in a home with older children who can keep up with his playful spirit. His foster 2-legged brother has already taught him some basic commands .

Berkley is also house and crate trained, which means he’s already got some solid house manners in place.   If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who will bring joy and energy to your daily life, Berkley is ready to be your new best friend. Come meet this charming guy—he’s ready to run, play, and make every day an adventure with you!

As part of Berkley’s $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Berkely, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
