My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Honey Bear is fostered in Elwood, IN.

You all may know her and may have seen her story.  This little beauty was featured on social media because she was in a shelter, where she had a dangling back leg.  She was only being comforted with meds and desperatey needed rescue commitment.  One of our foster homes stepped up for her and couldn't stand to leave this sweet soul in such need.  Honey Bear is estimated to be about 2 years old, weighing just under 30 lbs.  She is a black tri femal Australian Shepherd.

Honey Bear is the absolute sweetest soul and is so aptly named.  Honey Bear has had her back leg amputated and has been medically cleared.  Honey Bear is an absolute delight in ANY home, but she does have a few requirements based on her needs.  He has gotten use to someone being home on a regular basis.  She also would prefer very minimal steps in/out of the home.  Honey Bear is great with little kids.  Therefore, we think she might be a good candidate for an adoptive home wanting to do some outside therapy work at hospitals or schools or possibly with persons with disabilities.

Honey Bear is wonderful with other dogs and cats, but she is ok being your one and only too.  She does like to join you on the couch, so a little ramp to help her to and from the couch and/or your bed would be wonderful too.  Honey Bear is also wonderful at helping her current foster family with barn chores, so she is happy to enjoy the farm life, if you need a cute little farmhand.  She isn't your typical high energy aussie, but she also is not a couch potato.  She is learning how to maneuver with 3 legs and gaining muscle.  We highly recommend she be provided joint supplements and care of eventual arthritis.

Honey Bear is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, medically cleared and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for all prior or current pets is required to adopt from our rescue. For more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees, and a link to our adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
