Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Rainey!
Rainey is a sweet and easygoing 4-month-old retriever and lab mix who is as gentle as she is affectionate. This lovely girl is smart, friendly, and always ready to be part of the action, even if she’s a little more shy than her sister.
Rainey loves spending time with everyone, including other animals, and is especially gentle and nurturing with children. While she prefers the coziness of being indoors, she enjoys playing fetch and venturing outside—especially if she’s bundled up in a sweater or warm layer. Her favorite activities include snuggling, giving kisses, and napping whenever the mood strikes.
A quick learner, Rainey already knows how to sit on command and wait patiently to eat until given permission. She’s crate trained, potty trained, and mostly leash trained, though she might pull a little when excited. At night, she’s wonderfully quiet and will go to the door when she needs to go potty.
Rainey enjoys eating three meals a day with snacks in between and loves playing with balls and ropes. Her affectionate and calm demeanor makes her an ideal companion for anyone looking for a loving and loyal pup.

More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
