Scout spent a week with me and my pet family and this is what I discovered about her.She loves her human family and wants to cuddle. She met several other dogs, little and big, male and female and did great with all of them. She loves toys and just playing with them on her dog bed. She has some `puppy` behaviors that can be easily worked with. She learned how to go into her crate on her own but needs to gradually get used to being in it. She does well outside crate alone with other dog and she played with her toys but also found a pair of shoes. It was minor chewing and easily can be worked with. She is excitable and can jump. She immediately learned to wait in a `sit` for her food until released as well as sitting at the door. She needs a home WITHOUT CATS: She spent a week with my cat and while they shared a couch together Scout was always on alert to chase her. Men: Scout is timid around men. She will bark at them. She did allow several men to pet her and even let my brother walk her but she will need to be desensitized to this fear. I think she can easily overcome this.SHE WILL TRY TO RUN IF SHE GETS SCARED. She did well on a leash but when she heard something that scared her she tried to dart so you will need to vigilant while on leash or outside while she gets comfortable. Overall, I think Scout will do great with a family to love her. A family with another dog would be even better.
Scout has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home. She`s also sharing her shelter kennel with a friend she met at the shelter. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match! Check out her playgroup video here:
