My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sugar Cookie (or just Cookie for short), a 2-1/2 year old Chihuahua mix as sweet as her name implies. Weighing in at 9 lbs, she’s the perfect size to keep your lap cozy and warm this winter.

Cookie is a playful, lively little girl. She loves to go on walks and does well on leash. Playing with toys and chewing on bones are two of her favorite indoor activities. Like most dogs, when she’s excited she gets the zoomies, and if she’s lucky enough to have other dogs around, she delights in running circles around them to show them who’s boss. Cookie also loves being outside - a fenced yard would be ideal to allow her to explore without the risk of getting lost.

While still learning her manners and basic commands, Cookie does come when called, which is usually a very short distance because she’s almost always right beside her favorite human. Cookie is potty trained and will let you know when she needs to go out. She is also wonderfully crate-trained and is perfectly happy to go into her kennel when it’s time for bed or when she’s just hanging out and wants a break from the action. Cookie can be vocal at times and while apartment living may not be the best for her, she does very well in a quieter environment.

Cookie is nervous in new settings and wary of strangers. Once she is familiar with her surroundings and you gain her trust, however, her personality shines. She is fiercely loyal and a true velcro dog. Cookie has lived with older children and teenagers, dogs both big and small, and cats - she does great with all. A canine playmate would be wonderful but she would be fine as the only dog, as well. She’s happy as a clam when she’s with her people. Cookie also loves car rides! She is fine riding in her kennel but with so many things to see out the window, her favorite place to be is on her human’s lap!

This sweet girl is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated, and ready for her forever home. Give Cookie the love and guidance she needs and you’ll be rewarded with loads of loyalty and little dog kisses!

Cookie is available for adoption through the Alternative Humane Society: www.alternativehumanesociety.com. Fill out your Statement of Interest today!
