My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Coal!

This lovely boy was found as a stray with his brother and sister. Coal loves all his toys so much that he brings every one of them outside. He is a huge fan of his food and treats, but doesn't know many commands. When firetrucks pass by he howls to the sky to let them know he is available to assist.

Coal has a neuter already booked and booster vaccines due. If you'd like to take him home, you will have to arrange to take him to his appointments.

Please fill out an online application and come on in to meet him at the Maple Ridge SPCA open 12-4pm every day. Please call in advance to let us know your coming.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
