My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks

What kind of home would be best for me? Meet Maple, a sweet, shy Labradoodle (we think but we have not done DNA testing, this is a guess) who’s ready for her forever home.

Maple is a gentle, seven ish-year-old Labradoodle searching for a calm and loving forever home. She’s had a tough start in life, likely coming from an abusive background, which has made her a little shy around new people. But once she feels safe and comfortable, her loving heart shines through. It may take Maple a few minutes to warm up, but with patience and a little reassurance, she’ll show her true, affectionate nature.

Because of her past experiences, we believe Maple would do best in a home without young children. A quiet, structured environment with a single person or a couple who can spend most of the day with her would be ideal. She needs time to build trust and feel secure in her new surroundings, but once she does, she becomes a calm, loyal companion.

Maple would love a home with a fenced-in yard where she can safely romp and play. She also enjoys the company of other dogs, so a home with another dog could be a great fit, as she tends to learn from them and appreciates their companionship. However, we don’t believe she would do well in a home with cats due to her poodle instincts.

At first, Maple may be a bit reserved, especially when meeting new people. She’ll need time to adjust and gain your trust, but with patience, she will gradually open up and reveal her sweet, laid-back personality. She loves to be by your side, and over time, her playful side may also emerge.

With time and encouragement, she’ll blossom into a loyal, loving companion. Maple also needs some help with leash training. This girl does not do well when you first put a leash on her. Give her a few minutes, talk to her, and pet her before you take her out. Again, this is part of her needing to know you won’t harm her and learning to trust you.

She will need a calm environment where she can feel safe, and a consistent routine will help her thrive. Maple is still working on basic leash training, and initially, she may be hesitant when you put a leash on her. Give her a few minutes to adjust, talk to her gently, and she’ll eventually become more comfortable.

Maple is still learning basic commands like sit, down, come, and stay. With patience, positive reinforcement, and consistency, she’ll catch on quickly. She currently needs help with crate training and her adopter needs to enforce a strict potty schedule to help her learn to go outside.

No apartments please.  Maple is a large dog who needs the safety and security of a fenced in yard and a home.

With time, patience, and consistent care, Maple will blossom into a loving, loyal companion who will eagerly share her affection. She may need time to fully trust and adjust, but once she does, she will be a devoted and sweet dog. If you have a big heart and are ready to invest the time to help Maple grow, she will reward you with a lifetime of love.

What is my personality like? Maple also gets along well with other dogs and will often model her behavior after them. While she hasn’t interacted with cats, her poodle instincts suggest she’d do best in a home without them.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Maple is a loving and affectionate dog once she determines that she will be safe with you. She will thrive in a calm, structured environment.

Other tips and tidbits: Maple was born on or around  11/04/2017.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
