My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks
the CPR Adoption team

Date into Rescue:11/19/2024

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release. Val had a tilted vulva, making reproduction difficult for her so her breeder chose to retire her and let her become a cherished companion
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Val likes food - too much.  She needs to lose 10 lbs.  Val has been spayed, her core vaccinations are all up to date and she is microchipped. She is heartworm negative and on prevention.  She had a dental cleaning and had some tartar taken off and teeth fully cleaned.
Weight: 76 lbs
Height: 22 in at the shoulder
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $499

Fence needed? Vastly preferred

What kind of home would be best for me? Say hello to Valantee, or as we call her, Val! This sweet, lovable “marshmallow” of a dog will make a wonderful addition to any home.

Val is the calmest, most affectionate dog you’ll ever meet. She loves sitting at your feet, patiently waiting for pets. If she’s not getting attention, she’ll lean into you, and if that still doesn’t work, she’ll jump up for a big hug - just to make sure you know she’s ready for some love!

Val is a bit on the larger side (she’s carrying some extra weight).  She would really benefit from a solid walking program. and no treats please - maybe green beans should become her new fav thing!  Since at her core, love is what Val is all about. She craves affection and will shower you with it in return and affection and praise can become her new go to's for good behavior.  But definitely lay off the treats.

She would thrive in any home, whether you're a single retiree, a couple, or a family full of kids. The only thing Val needs from her new family is a little commitment to helping her get back to a healthy weight. Daily walks, trips to the dog park, or playtime in a fenced-in yard with will keep Val happy, engaged, and healthy. Since she’s a larger girl, apartment living isn’t the best fit unless she gets plenty of daily exercise. Val does love being outside, soaking up the sunshine!

Though she’s never had formal leash training, Val walks well on a leash. She hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, and she’ll need some guidance in learning basic commands like sit, stay, down, and come.

Val LOVES treats, so we recommend giving her low-calorie or healthy treats to support her weight loss goals. She also prefers to nibble on food throughout the day rather than eating it all at once, so if you have another dog, you might need to feed them separately.

If you're looking for a loving companion with a big heart who will quickly become your best friend, Val is the one for you. Adopt her, and you’ll find that your social circle - and the love in your life - will grow beyond measure. Don’t miss out on this special girl!

What is my personality like? Val is an absolute joy! She’s engaging, friendly, and adores people and other dogs. Though she hasn’t been around cats here, her easygoing and gentle nature suggests she’d likely do well with dog-friendly cats.

How do I act when I first meet new people? “Hello, friend! Pet me, please!” That’s Val’s motto. She’s never met a stranger and loves everyone she meets. Adopt her, and your social circle will expand in the best possible way—just like the Grinch’s heart on Christmas morning!

Other tips and tidbits: Val was born on 10/16/2020.

Val is working on house training. She can be crated but it's not her favorite thing.  She would benefit from a canine companion in the home but it is not 100% essential.  Mostly she needs a human best friend.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
