Meet Max! He is a 1 year old hound mix. Max was adopted from us as a young puppy but surrendered back due to the family not being able to care for him with there young children. We have let him settle back in and behavior tested him again. Max did very well with other dogs here and our staff. He is a very sweet boy who needs a loving family. Since he does so well with dogs we recommend he go to a home with other dogs to teach him to ropes. Due to issues in him past home we recommend he go to a home with children who have experience with dogs. Max is a great dog who is ready for his forever home! Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Age: 1yrs 2mths 1wks

f you are interested in adopting from HSAC, there are a few things you should know.
If you currently have a dog at home, it is strongly recommended that you bring your pet in to meet with the animal you are planning to adopt. This will be a requirement for most adoptions (and required for ALL dog/puppy adoptions) done here at our facility. It is very stressful for humans and pets when things don't work out after the new pet has arrived. A vet and/or home check may be required.
In order for us to be able to adopt an animal to you, we will need for you to bring a valid state-issued photo I.D. and documentation about your residence. If you rent, we must see a lease agreement stating that pets are allowed on the property. If you own your home, we must see proof of ownership - a tax bill, deed or mortgage coupon. We cannot accept utility bills or any other form of address verification.
Adoptions of pit bulls and mixes must be approved by management for the safety of the dogs.
We accept cash and major credit cards. Personal checks are not accepted. Prices and policies are subject to change at management's discretion.
Cats and kittens are $100.
Dogs over 8 months old are $200.
Puppies under 8 months old are $400.
Senior dogs over 7 years old are $100.

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Atlantic County was established as an Animal Shelter in 1968. Our mission is to curb pet over-population through our clinic’s spay and neuter programs, increase the number of animals adopted into loving homes through our shelter, provide a safe and caring environment for animals that are lost or strayed and to serve as a resource for humane animal education within our community. Our organization strives to improve and protect the lives of companion animals by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people.
Our successful adoption programs give us the ability to open our doors to thousands of animals facing euthanasia due to overcrowding or lack of resources in other shelters all over the United States. Our Shelter Outreach Program also enables us to offer a greater variety of animals to our adoption clients.
The Humane Society of Atlantic County is a private, non-profit organization that relies on donations from our generous supporters. We are not operated or funded by any national humane groups or governmental agencies and must rely on contributions to bring our services to the community.
