Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our Tyler is a timid soul who needs a patient rescue-savvy adopter to continue the social progress that he has made with us.
Tyler is a hoarding survivor. He was confiscated, along with numerous housemates, from squalid conditions in a North Carolina Home. Animal Control Officers brought the Chihuahua pack to the county shelter. From there, the pack was parcelled out to various Rescues. Tyler was transferred here so that we could help him see the human world as less threatening.
Tyler has opened up beautifully. Although still shy, he has really come into his own. He would thrive in a patient adult home, perhaps with another well adjusted dog for companionship. He seems to be best buds with our dog, Dobby. We think he is gentle enough to live peacefully with cats.
Tyler is a leggy Chihuahua mix at only 10 pounds. He has a "deer" shaped head, and a tan coat with white markings, but his long legs and arched posture suggest a smidge of Italian Greyhound in his DNA Mix. At 6 years old, he is an adult dog and well past the puppy mayhem stage.
We think that Tyler would most enjoy a quiet lifestyle with an adult single or couple, who love lap dog companionship. He tends to steer clear of chaos, and would not be a good fit for a busy family bursting with kids. He is an active dog, and loves to play, but he would thrive with a few brisk leash walks each day. Tyler could easily join a multi dog home with one or two other laid back dogs with proper introduction and supervision.
Tyler has good house manners, and is house trained, crate trained and and can easily be persuaded to use a wee wee pad in the inclement weather. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.
Tyler is in excellent health, and is at a lean body weight. He is neutered, and has had a recent dental. He has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. He is dewormed, and microchipped,
