Meet Charlie. The sweet senior was surrendered with his brother, Clyde, to our rescue by the only family they’ve ever known. While these two boys technically had a home, they were kept in the basement and did not have the care or engagement they deserved. Both dogs came into the rescue in dire need of dental work, both living with pain and infection. Clyde also had a heart murmur that needed evaluation. Both pups have since been fully vetted, had dental work, and been groomed. They live in a wonderful foster home, getting lots of love and attention and flourishing. They are both exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people.
NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. They can be adopted as a pair or separately, so we are featuring each pup individually.
Charlie’s little side grin will melt your heart immediately. He is an easygoing boy who is very connected to his people. He may be a senior, but he still has a bounce in his step when it’s food time or heading out for a walk. Every once in a while, he will get the zoomies and run up and down the hall as quickly as he can. He loves being part of a family and will greet you with joy and enthusiasm when you come home. He just wants to belong and have his people to love.
Charlie is a low to moderate-energy dog and champion cuddler. He follows his foster mom from room to room and immediately jumps in her lap when she sits down. He enjoys the company of other dogs, so we think another laidback pup in his home would be ideal. He’s not one to engage in play and is not very focused on toys, but he’s a respectful pup with a live-and-let-live attitude and makes a great pup companion. He also enjoys his walks and has good leash skills.
In his prior home, Charlie’s family kept their dogs in belly bands 24 x 7 and did not give them regular potty breaks, so Charlie had to re-learn the basics. His foster mom, Jen, has done a great job with him, ensuring he has a consistent routine and regular potty breaks, and used a puppy pen to contain him when she couldn’t watch him. He’s responded well and hasn’t had any accidents in weeks. He will even perk up from a deep sleep if you say the word “outside.” Charlie no longer wears a belly band, and she no longer uses the pen. At night, she leaves him loose, and he is fine sleeping in bed or on his bed next to you.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Charlie did well meeting the extended family. He might give a quick bark when company arrives to alert you, but as soon as everyone settles in, he’s exploring new laps to snuggle up to.
Charlie is a sweet and calm pup who deserves to live out his golden years in a loving home. He has good house manners, doesn’t chew on things, makes a good pup companion, and loves to cuddle. He will be coming to town on 12/7, ready to start his new life.

Thank you for considering adoption and choosing to save a dog’s life!
Adding a dog to your family is a rewarding and life-changing experience. Dogs enrich our lives and have the amazing ability to give and receive love unconditionally. They can be your loyal companion and friend, and a watchful playmate for your kids, but they are also a serious, long-term commitment. They will depend on you for their health and well-being, and require an investment of love, time, and money for the rest of their life.
As you search for your new dog, please remember that there is no shortage of dogs who need saving. There are far more dogs waiting to be adopted than people who are willing to adopt them, so if the dog in the picture who you’ve imagined bringing home isn’t available, there are thousands more amazing, loving dogs just hoping for the chance to be your dog. We ask that you keep an open mind, stay flexible, and we will do our best to work with you to find a great match for your family.
We strongly encourage anyone thinking about adopting a dog to do your research and make sure you are prepared for the commitment. If you have thought about what’s required and are ready to adopt, here’s what you can expect when you apply to adopt a dog from Worthy Dog Rescue.
Worthy Dog Rescue cannot guarantee that the dog you apply for will be available once you have been approved. We do our best to work with adopters and meet your needs, but we do not adopt dogs on a first-come, first-serve basis. All applications are screened to determine the most suitable match for the dog and the adopter. We want to place dogs in good homes as quickly as possible, so the dog can start their new life with their family, and we can free up their foster home to save another dog in need.
We understand how easy it is to become attached to a dog you’ve found online, but sometimes the dog you apply for may already be scheduled to meet another adopter, or it may not be the best fit for your home for a variety of behavioral reasons. Our dogs are fostered by one of our volunteers, living in their home as part of their family. This allows us to get to know the dog, what they need, their level of socialization, and the type of home that will best suit them.
Our goal is to place dogs in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. We take great care in finding good matches for our dogs and adopters too. We look forward to working with you to find the dog that will be with you and your family for many years to come.
