My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking small but walking tall!!
Puppy palooza is proud to present Morris-the newest member of the Pups R Us team.
We have several varieties of wonderful puppy companions ready to be shaped and molded into your new best friend.
Morris is a happy little 22 pound guy that will brighten your day. He struts up the row checking out his competition. He gives each worthy opponent a nod. Tufts up his fur to show them who they are dealing with. He is no small fry. He has dachshund-docskillzzz.

The Pups are Us Staff work very hard to work with all the dogs in their care.
We have had quite a few puppies come in recently, they are all very sweet and have unique personalities. Most are combo breeds but we encourage potential adopters to research breed characteristics and select the best fit for your family.
All puppies have similar behavior: play, eat, nap and repeat with potty training breaks every few hours and manners training through the day.

Dachshunds aren't built for distance running, leaping, or strenuous swimming, but otherwise these tireless hounds are game for anything. Smart and vigilant, with a big-dog bark, they make fine watchdogs. Bred to be an independent hunter of prey, they can be brave and a bit stubborn, but their endearing nature and unique look has won millions of hearts the world over.

Come and meet this adorable energetic pup. He is on his way to becoming his best self.
✅Crate trained
✅Neat in his kennel.
✅Super sweet personality, great sense of humor. Ready to tell you jokes to make you laugh!
🐶😸 timid right now with other animals but we think he will open up. Morris will need companion animals to tolerate his energy level, vocal and independent lifestyle. He might want to be the boss dog.
📣Won't hold back telling you his opinion.
🐾He will need his family to continue working on basic training skills.
Once fully vaccinated, he will need a nice walk and exercise session before work.
General guidelines for potty training: an hour for each month of age.
A 3 month old puppy should be taken out every 3 hours for best results in teaching them to go potty outside.

If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
