My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jett is a spirited extra-large mix breed looking for a family ready to embrace his high-energy lifestyle and big heart. This bouncy boy thrives on love, time, and plenty of enrichment to keep him happy and engaged.

Jett’s ideal home would have teenaged children, if any, and be prepared to help him refine his manners. He’s still working on his jumping, mouthing, and bathroom habits, so patience and consistency will be key. Crate training or a secure, puppy-proofed space is strongly recommended to ensure his safety and success.

When excited, Jett can be quite vocal, so while he doesn’t necessarily require a detached house, an apartment is not suitable for him. Knowledge of guardian breeds would be highly beneficial for understanding his needs and personality.

Jett’s leash skills need some polishing—he’s a strong puller and can be reactive to other dogs when on leash. However, he enjoys the company of high-energy, friendly dogs, so with proper introductions, he could thrive in a multi-dog home. Cats, on the other hand, are not a match for Jett, as he’s shown a keen interest in chasing them.

To set Jett up for success, he’ll need to be signed up for two in-person training sessions with a certified positive reinforcement trainer or qualify for a GoodPup scholarship. These sessions will help him channel his energy and continue blossoming into the best boy he can be!

If you’re ready for a high-energy, loyal companion with lots of potential, Jett is ready to join you on life’s adventures. Apply to adopt him today!

Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed:
- Mouthy
- Separation Anxiety
- Nervous/Shy
- Jumpy/Humping
- High Energy
- Under Socialized
- Reactivity

Explanation of Behaviours:
- An active dog that will need plenty of exercise, training, stimulation and enrichment daily to set him up for
success.
- Jett has shown to be nervous and shy of new people, in new situations and in new environments. His new family will need to work with him on slowly and properly desensitizing him to the world around him.
- Jett can become excitable resulting in him lacking some manners by jumping up/humping and mouthing on people.
- Jett new family should be prepared to possibly deal with separation anxiety.
- Jett has shown to be reactive on leash to other dogs out of fear/discomfort typically while out on walks and when seeing other dogs from a distance. Slow introductions are required for him

Additional adoption info

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
