My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Oliver's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the gorgeous (and extremely dirty and matted) Oliver tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's Rescue immediately got a call describing this cute as can be and super-sweet Yorkshire Terrier (with a touch of Chihuahua in the mix for extra cuteness) and the need to save his precious life. We immediately agreed and Oliver became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.

Oliver is 7 - 8 hears old. This is such a great age..old enough to be very calm and past any babyish behaviors and young enough to have many healthy, happy years remaining. Our sweet guy weighs 7lbs of cottony-coat fluffiness. This is a great size for walks along gorgeous Colorado trails or neighborhood strolls for fun and socialization. And then at day's end Oliver would be perfect for warming his favorite person's lap or a cuddly couch/bed companion all night long.

Oliver is such a devoted and smart little guy. Since he's been with his rescuer, he's a more relaxed and social guy. He is literally blossoming. Initially this poor pup was frightened due to all the changes in his life but with patience and love, he's truly coming out of his shell!. Oliver has made progress each and every day with his rescuer and has become a more well-adjusted dog who is open to new relationships and adventures.

Oliver enjoys his walks where he can socialize with dog-loving neighbors and their pets. Playtime for this sweet guy includes periodic hugs, praise and treats that make Oliver feel so good about himself.
He is such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics.

Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Oliver in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home...or enjoy taking their furry best friend along. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a good choice for this people-loving guy. Oliver is a perfect take-along sized guy so it's so easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm. This little guy enjoys the car and is very happy riding strapped into his car seat so he can watch the activity going on around him..

Oliver is at his absolute best with adults. He's much more comfortable with the quiet energy that they bring to a home. A walk followed by time on the couch or bed watching a favorite TV show would speak to this little dog's love of his people. He would be overjoyed to be part of a family of laid back folks. It would match his own energy level and he would be a loyal, full-time best friend.

Oliver is unknown with cats. He's compatible, however, with like-sized dogs with similar energy levels to his own, but this sweet guy doesn't require these relationships to be happy. If his family is attentive and loves being with their dog, they're perfect for the wonderful Oliver If he is adopted as an only dog with a family that will shower full-time love and pampering on him, he will return that love and kindness a million times over as he falls more and more in love with his family.

We've been told that Oliver is a non- shedding guy (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today). He will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately 5 times per year) and excellent nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement coupled with 5 star food is a great regimen to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free.

Oliver will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 12/7/2924, If interested in this gorgeous and very cuddly, loyal and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Oliver, please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder,or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
