My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dutchess has endured so much heartbreak, but she’s ready for a brighter chapter in her golden years. This beautiful senior, estimated to be around 11 years old, came to us after her beloved owner passed away. Dutchess spent her entire life with her owner and her sister, Cupcake, but sadly, Cupcake recently crossed the rainbow bridge as well. Understandably, Dutchess has been feeling the weight of her losses, but she’s a resilient and loving girl who deserves a safe, peaceful home to heal and thrive.

Dutchess faces some mobility challenges due to disc disease, but she gets around fairly well with a little extra care. She’s on lifelong Gabapentin to keep her comfortable and will need occasional urinary tests and antibiotics to maintain her bladder health. Despite these challenges, Dutchess is full of love, and her gentle spirit shines through in every wag of her tail.

This sweet girl cherishes the quiet joys of life—napping by your side, enjoying tasty treats, and snuggling up for companionship. She does well with other dogs but prefers a calm, serene environment without the chaos of younger pups. Her ideal family will have experience with senior dogs and the willingness to provide the little extra care she needs, including support for her mobility and daily medications.

Dutchess is looking for a home where she can spend her retirement surrounded by love and kindness. Could you be the one to give this deserving girl the peaceful, happy life she longs for? If so, please inquire about her today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
