My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winnifred, aptly named after the head Sanderson sister from Hocus Pocus, is full of a zest for life and nibbling on children. She is sure to put a spell on you once she weaves her magic.

Winnie came to her foster home from a hoarding case so very little is know about her past and a lot of patience will be necessary while she learns about life and grows into her full and sure to be quirky self. We all need a little time to discover who we are and she deserves all the time in the world! Despite her rough beginnings she has not found one dog or person who she doesn't immediately fall in love with once she gets past her shyness (usually in 2.2 seconds). Her current quirks include a deep hesitation around stairs, a zest for anything outside including grass, leaves, snow and rain as well as a confusion about going to the bathroom on a soft surface like, well, really anything outside. With that said, please note that Winnie is not currently potty trained and it will take some time for her brain to adjust to the idea of not just going to the bathroom where you are when the urge hits. She does really well going outside immediately from being crated but is battling frequent unirnation due to what was most likely long term nutritional deficiency. She is on special food to help with this but it will take time.

Speaking of the crate, we anticipated that Winnie might find her crate to be a safe space and that was the case the first few weeks in her foster home until she realized that not being in a crate was an option. Her foster family was overwhelmed with joy when she used her voice for the first time because she was SO quiet when she came to the home. Luckily for Winnie, her foster home is full of chaos of both the human and dog variety and she has learned that she can express her opinions loudly and frequently if she wants something much to her foster homes chagrin. We are still happy that she feels safe expressing her opinions....mostly.

You have gotten this far and you may be asking, but what about the children nibbling? You said she likes everyone. I'm here to tell you that her enthusiasm for life comes with a lack of manners. She has come a long way in taking treats only versus trying to steal your finger with the treat which we applaud her for. She has picked up what we lovingly refer to as cobbing, aka, nibbling us like we are corn on the cob. She really loves toys so having one handy as well as good boundaries will help keep this activity at bay. She's really just trying to show you how much she loves you but when she pulls arm hair with her nibbles...ouch girl!

If Winnifred sounds like your kind of adventure apply to adopt her today! She's ready for her forever home and will be sure to bring a HUGE amount of love and joy to your home while you grow and learn about life together and discover all the amazing things this world has to offer outside of a crate!
