My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mochi is a sweet and gentle soul with a heart full of love for people. His affectionate nature shines through in the way he happily greets anyone who takes a moment to say hello. With the cutest little freckles decorating his face, Mochi is as charming as he is kind-hearted. While he's shown interest in the other dogs at the shelter, his primary focus is on building connections with his human friends, making him a delightful companion for anyone seeking a loyal and loving furry friend.

Adjusting to life at the shelter has been a little stressful for Mochi, and his appetite hasn't been as strong as it might be in a quieter, more comforting environment. Despite this, his gentle demeanor and resilience stand out, and with the right home, he's sure to blossom into the happiest version of himself. Mochi's future family will find in him a devoted companion who's ready to fill their lives with warmth, love, and plenty of those adorable freckled smiles.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
