My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Folks, I’m Blocker!

You’re probably wondering how I got my name. Well, the staff considered calling me Hoss, but they’ve had plenty of pets with that name over the years. So, they decided on Blocker, inspired by Dan Blocker (you know, Hoss from Bonanza). I think it suits me perfectly—strong, solid, and a little old-school cool.

I’m a 16-pound, extra-large Domestic Shorthair boy with big bones and an even bigger heart. I became homeless on November 27, 2024, and while I haven’t been at the shelter very long, I have to admit—being a cat of my stature, I’m feeling pretty cramped in my cage. I really need to find a new home soon, or I might start feeling a little down from the lack of space and activity.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I get along with most cats, though I can sometimes butt heads with a few. But at my core, I’m a people-loving cuddlebug. I adore snuggling, and I’ll happily curl up in your lap for hours. I’m quiet, laid-back, and just looking for someone who appreciates a big cat with an even bigger personality.

Oh, and you’ve probably noticed my primordial pouch—a loose flap of skin and fatty tissue under my belly that swings when I walk. It’s a normal part of a cat’s anatomy, and it’s especially noticeable on big boys like me! In case you’re curious, here are a few fun facts about it:

Protection: The pouch adds an extra layer of safety for my internal organs during a scuffle.
Speed: It stretches when I move, giving me more flexibility and stride length.
Storage: It’s nature’s built-in food storage after a big meal (though I promise I won’t hoard snacks!).
And don’t worry—it’s actually a sign of a healthy cat! A free-swinging pouch means I’m at a good weight and doing just fine.

So, if you’re looking for a big, handsome guy who loves to lounge, cuddle, and bring warmth to your home, I’m your cat. Let’s make this holiday season the start of something wonderful.

Come meet me soon!
