Hi, I`m Sue! I`m a beautiful lab/coonhound mix who came to WSHS with my siblings and my mom. We came all the way from New Orleans! Now mom is in a foster home, getting all the pampering she deserves, and we are all looking for our forever homes! I`m a social butterfly who wants to be everyone`s best friend. I love playing until I drop, and then it is time for cuddles. I do well with people of all ages, with dogs, and even with cats! I`d love to find a family who will take me on all their adventures and teach me all the best tricks. If you think I`m the special girl for you, apply to meet me today!

Special Requirements: Cannot be alone for more than 3 hours at a time for house-training and socialization purposes

Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

More about this rescue

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
