Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Fern
Nicknames: Furniture. Pretty Girl.
Sex: Female
Breed: Pug
Age: ~2.5 years
Weight: 19 lbs.
Before OMD: Found as a stray, with a skin infection (missing quite a bit of fur - which has now healed and her fur filled back in). When no one came to claim her at the city shelter, we were happy to scoop her up and bring her into rescue.
Life motto: Play all day, don’t care what’s in the way.
Life goals: To be loved and cared for unconditionally. Take all the walks, indulge in all the cuddles, and play like it’s a full-time job.
Descriptors: Playful. Lover. Joyful. Fun. Happy
Energy level: Above average to high. She is all about play, all the time: tug of war, keep away, zoomies and parkour to name a few. Would love a fur companion who can keep up.
Moonlights as: A cat - she will sit on the back of the couch cushion and watch out the window for squirrels. A dog wash - loves to groom her foster fur siblings. A physical alarm clock, when it is time to wake up, she will initiate play with her fur siblings and/or kiss her people so everyone can start the day together.
Velcro level: Affectionate with no concept of personal space. She prefers to be near or on you at all times. Your pillow is now her pillow. Be prepared to have a small 4-legged shadow.
What makes us laugh: Her raspy morning yawns and barks. When she falls asleep with her head in your hand. When she barks at airplanes on walks.
Our favorite things about her: She is spunky, social and thriving in spite of her rough start. She is a good friend to other dogs and an all-around joy. Super playful but understands “no” when she’s over the top.
Her favorite things: Affection - she loves to cuddle and be petted. Sitting on your lap or chest. LOVES her fur foster bros. She is a healthy queen and enjoys carrots and cucumbers as treats.
Not to brag but: She is great on the leash and loves to get out and about.
Dislikes: Being home alone.
Guilty of: Being a bit clumsy.
Stranger Danger: Not an ounce, thrilled to meet new people and loves them all.
Knows: Sit. Enough.
Dogs: Yes please! The more playful the better.
Cats: Has not been around cats, but we suspect she would try to play. A dog-savvy cat might be okay. Timid cats will be miserable.
Kids: Loves kids! Has interacted with kids of all ages, gets excited and a bit jumpy but settles quickly.
House-trained: If house training were a professional sport, she’d be the league MVP. She is at the top of her game and has had no accidents.
Crate trained: Fern enjoys a well-appointed crate with a bed, blanket and pillow and a little veggie treat. She goes in willingly and recharges. We suspect she would be fine uncrated, but it does give her foster siblings time to rest.
Fern is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and IL and their surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from our website.
