My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gordie is a 3 yr old, full American Bulldog. Everyone says “Pit”, but google the breed, and voila! Gordy has been with cats, dogs of all sizes, small animals, and kids and does well. She'd 57 lbs, but don't tell her the vet said she needs to lose 12-14 lbs. Why we call her Gordie and not her full name Gordita ( thick pancake). Gordie is housetrained and knows her name. Gordita will walk and explore or crash on a fluffy dog bed as long as you like. We often call dogs “Diamond in the rough.” This one is just a diamond.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our process involves an application that must be filled out and approved before an appointment can be made to meet the animals. The application includes a vet check, reference check, and verification that an animal may live at current home by home ownership verfication or landlord verification.

Most importantly, sometimes we believe a home visit is necessary to make to sure the animal and the adoptee are the perfect match.Once approved, a contract is signed before animals are released into their new home.

All dogs adoption fee is 250. Reptiles and other animals are on a case by case basis.

Go meet their pets

By appointment only.

More about this rescue

Good Karma Rescue Inc. is a private charitable non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

Good Karma Rescue is a small group of volunteers that love animals. Our mission is to rescue, provide refuge, and ultimately to find permanent loving homes for abandoned, stray and neglected animals where they will receive a lifetime commitment of loving care, including appropriate gentle training, exercise, and regular veterinary care. Whenever possible we also assist dogs who, because of extenuating circumstances, are unable to remain in their homes with their guardians. We are located in Central Vermont, and work with local and national organizations to help prevent needless euthanasia, and companion animal overpopulation.

Good Karma rescue supports early age spay/neuter as the most practical and humane way to prevent companion animal overpopulation and needless euthanasia. All dogs and puppies adopted from Good Karma rescue prior to going to their forever home are spayed or neutered. Our organization acknowledges the serious problem of overpopulation of companion animals in this country, and works to prevent unwanted litters.

All Good Karma are housed in foster homes where they are provided with attention and all are seen by a veterinarian to insure, as much as is possible, that they are in good health before adoption. All companion animals are spayed or neutered, brought up-to-date on shots, and screened for parasites before being placed in their new homes. When time permits, our dogs are also housetrained and taught basic obedience.

All Good Karma animals are evaluated for temperament, and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future guardians. If you are looking for a specific type of dog and do not see it on our website, please email us. We work closely with other rescue groups and animal shelters and may be able to assist you in finding your next furry friend.
