My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

October is a mellow, relaxed, 4-year-old husky mix. He came in from a hoarding case and is currently housed with his friend, Potion, so he’s OK to be with other dogs. October likes walks, especially when he has an opportunity to smell and explore. He even walks great in a pack! He often goes out with his kennel-mate, Potion, and is very respectful of her space and pacing. As you can imagine, the colder weather makes October very happy! We hope he gets lots more time to frolic in the snow. Maybe you could be his snow buddy?? With October by your side, winter will feel magical.

Before a visit, you must have a completed and approved application

Meet the Pet

If you decide on the pet you meet, they will be put in for a pre-adoption vet check. It can take up to a week for your pet to come home.

So you’re ready to add a family member to your home! Well you’re at the right place! To begin, you can view our animals available for adoption online, but there’s nothing like the real thing. We welcome you to come to our shelter and spend some time getting to know our animals in person.

To start off, please review the adoption guidelines below to speed up the adoption process:

1. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

2. All adoption applications must be filled out completely.

3. An adoption application must be completed before any animal can be taken out for a visit. No animal will be taken out for a visit prior to this time.

4. You will need picture ID, with name and current address, to photo copy onto your application.

5. Any animal on a HOLD cannot be taken out for a visit until its holding time is up and it is available for adoption.

6. All dogs MUST be licensed with your Town prior to leaving the CNYSPCA, ask adoption counselor for further details.
