PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
11/26/24 Margo showed up as a dumped dog in a very bad part of town, where there are many known dog fighters who are just waiting to get dogs like her to train their fighting dogs. Margo is a timid, shy girl who is unsure of herself and the world she has found herself in. She is doing her best to survive, with the help of a good samaritan who is trying to keep her fed and warm, and doing their best to protect her from dangerous people. Unfortunately this good sam can not bring Margo into her home - she lives in a tiny home with multiple other pets and the house is in serious disrepair. She is doing the best she can, which we appreciate. Sadly, our rescue also has no room to take Margo. We did get her spayed and brought up to date on vaccinations. Unfortunately, Margo did test positive for heartworms. We will have her treated once she has someone willing to take her into their home. Treatment would require her to be indoors where she can be monitored so it's a situation where once she has an adopter, we can move her to a boarding facility and just pay for boarding for the few weeks she would need. Until then, she is on the slow kill treatment for heartworms. We are worried about this sweet girl in this big scary world. She deserves so much better. Margo is fearful but has never tried to bite or even growl at anyone. She does trust eventually, but you have to earn it with her. She has learned the hard way that not everyone is worthy of her trust. We would love nothing more than for Margo to find her way into a home where she can be warm and safe. She is good with other dogs, and currently runs with 'Louise' who is also listed for adoption, but she has many dog friends in the neighborhood and gets along well with all of them. Margo is a young lady, about a year old, and weighs 45lbs. We are willing to waive the adoption fee for Margo to go to a good home.
Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
