Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Sombrita means ‘little shadow’ in Spanish. I got that name because I follow my foster mom everywhere she goes!
I love to play with other dogs, especially if they are a little bigger than me. I live with two cats and wish they wanted to be my friends as much as I want to be their friend! I like them a lot. I haven’t really been around children and sometimes they make me nervous if they run up to me unexpected.
I’m still a puppy, so I love to run and play! I will fetch a ball or a stick. But after a few tries, I might decide to keep it for myself. I know how to sit and walk on a leash. I am working on ‘stay’ and ‘lay down’.
I sleep in my big bed on the covered patio, and get to come and go inside during the day, but never on the furniture. I know to wait until walks to use the bathroom. We go to the park first thing in the morning!
Before I was rescued, I escaped a house fire. So, I have two scars on my back. My foster mom says they look like the spots where my wings were. I also had broken leg, so I have scars from my surgery, too. But I’m happy, healthy, and full of gratitude now!
If you are looking for a lifelong friend to pal around with, we should get together! Fill in the adoption application and we can meet on a Zoom call!
Thanks for looking at my profile! - Sombrita To get more information go to https://hope4lapawz.org/adopt and click on the dog's photo. There you will see any videos, more photos and details.

Additional adoption info
Our adoption process is on our website at: https://hope4lapawz.org/adoption-process/
Once approved, we establish transport for your dog and work out delivery which is usually to an airport near your city (unless you are here in La Paz).
Adoption fees are $400 USD and transport fees are typically a flat $350 to any city that Alaska Airlines flies direct from San Diego. Adoptions for dogs to be living in Mexico are $1500 + Transport Fees.
Dogs traveling outside of Mexico are certified and have all appropriate documentation, shots, tests, and exams. In addition to the rescuing and medical rehabilitation of these dogs, we have regular training classes for the dogs to encourage socialization as well as leash and crate training while they are in their foster homes awaiting adoption.
Our adoption team supplies information, and tools, recommended training books. They also perform periodic adoption follow ups and assistance for adoptive families. We want each of our dogs to be set up for success in their new home. Our goal is to provide adopters with a complete package of rescue, care, and adoption support to promote a successful, happy life for you and your new dog.
If you have any other questions, you can contact a member of our Adoption Team at adoptions@hope4lapawz.org and we’ll get right back to you.

More about this rescue
We are an all-volunteer organization in La Paz, BCS, Mexico, and include local community of rescuers (called "rescatistas"). Dogs that are rescued from the streets are fostered in homes where they are treated as members of the family. They are often fostered with other dogs and sometimes cats and children.
Our organization encourages more in the community to rescue and foster by offering a support system of food, medical care, and professional training. As rescuers get involved, they educate their neighbors, family, and friends about the importance of proper animal care, spaying/ neutering, and thus help to break the cycle of abuse and neglect.
We are always in need of volunteers here in Mexico, in the US, and in Canada. Visit our volunteer page for more details about getting involved -- so you can help us make a difference! https://hope4lapawz.org/volunteer/
