My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is sweet Coco, a kitty who has been through way too much in her short life. Her look of wide-eyed wonder is because she is blind. Her history, as we piece it together, is that she was found in a garbage pile and rescued, then adopted. Her family returned her when she started peeing outside the litter box at the time they brought a new baby home. Their reaction apparently was to put Coco outside although they were aware that she was either blind or visually impaired. They did not take her to a vet for confirmation. Long, sad story short, Coco is now safe with us and has been to a veterinary eye specialist who confirms she is blind, and there is no treatment to change that.

Coco is a survivor. She is getting good care from her caretakers, yet she still seems overwhelmed by the sanctuary environment. She needs a peaceful place to live with a kind, experienced and patient adopter. Kitten Rescue has adopted out dozens of blind kitties. They actually do quite well and we can give you pointers on what you need to know. Let's turn Coco's luck around and give her the life she so deserves.

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
