Good day friends. My name is Thunder. My sisters and I made our way to the shelter from a very sad and scary experience. But with all the love and support from our new shelter friends and with the help of going to slumber parties, I am slowly becoming brave, confident and the big boy I was created to become. I thrive in the presence of other dogs and people who will go slow with me and be patient. I can be very cautious and scared at first, but if you and your family can give me time to catch my breathe and become courageous, I will end up melting in your arms like butter. If your family is looking for a young pup who is trying ti find his way in this big world, and you want to be a part of this journey of discovery, then come ask for Thunder. Monday - Tuesday (by appointment only) | 11 am - 6 pm
Wednesday - Friday | 12 pm - 7 pm
Saturday - Sunday | 11am - 7pm

Please note that we operate by first come, first serve along with adoption approval. Wait times may vary depending on the time of week and day.

We are reserving Mondays and Tuesdays for appointments for members of the public who are immunocompromised or are still uncomfortable being in large crowds due to COVID-19.

Adoption Requirements:
- Adopter must be 18 years of age or older.
- Adopters must complete a survey and present photo identification to meet any of our animals.
- For the safety and health of our animals, we do not ship pets.
- Pet adoption fees range from $60 to $350. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals needing our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. The adoption fee for each animal varies and is dependent on many factors including: age, size, behavior, medical condition, and public demand.

We are open for adoptions, no appointment necessary, Wednesdays through Sundays from 12-7PM. On Monday and Tuesday, we are available for adoptions by appointment only.

-We recommend (and in some cases require) that all members of the household meet the pet prior to adoption.
-Great Plains SPCA runs background checks on adopters and adults in the home over 18.
-Great Plains SPCA requires all visitors to wear masks that cover the nose and mouth at all times while inside our buildings. Disposable masks are available upon request.
