My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tom, a confident and curious tabby with a playful personality! Tom is an independent spirit who enjoys having his people around but prefers to do his own thing. He's a big fan of hiding underneath blankets, where he feels cozy and safe, and loves getting pets through the fabric-just enough affection to make him purr. He enjoys exploring new spaces in the home and is always curious about his surroundings, but he likes to take his time getting comfortable in any new area.

Tom is best suited for an adult-only home, where he can enjoy his independence while still having his people nearby. He loves dry food and Temptations treats, though he's not a big fan of wet food. Tom is also very well-behaved-he always uses his litter box and enjoys scratching posts to keep his claws in top shape.

If you're looking for a confident, low-maintenance cat who loves to explore and enjoy affection on his own terms, Tom is your guy! He just needs a caring family who can appreciate his independent nature while being there when he's ready for some love.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
