My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I’m a 4-year-old female Pit Bull Terrier mix, and I’m looking for my forever home! My foster family says I’m an angel at home. I’m perfectly house-trained and love spending time outdoors, especially when I get to sniff around the neighborhood park. Mealtime is one of my favorite moments—I get so excited!

When I’m not exploring, my happy place is on the couch next to a human friend, soaking up belly rubs and affection.

When I arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, I tested positive for Heartworm. But don’t worry—the clinic staff has a plan, and the treatment process is highly successful.

The best place for a Heartworm-positive dog like me to recover is with a loving forever family. If you choose to adopt me, the clinic staff will guide and support you every step of the way, answering any questions you may have.

The treatment process takes about three months, followed by a follow-up test six months after it begins. There are some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while I recover, and the staff is confident that I’ll make a full recovery.

One more thing to know—Heartworm can only be transmitted between animals through mosquitoes, so I won’t pose any risk to other pets.

For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you.

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
