My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I`m Stellar. I grew up in a foster home with my 7 siblings, and mom! My mom`s name is Quasar, she is also looking for her forever home, and my siblings are Blazar, Sloan, Galaxy, Hubble, Seyfert, Cosmos, and Nova. Now that my siblings and I are all grown up I`m in search of my forever home!

This is what my foster mom has to say about me, `Stellar is super sweet and a little shy at first. When new people come around, she will run off to hide, but with the swing of a wand toy she is out to socialize in no time. She is the most talkative of the bunch, but not too much. She usually just has to catch me up in the morning on the overnight events while she gets her breakfast pets…she tends to prefer love before food. She is the smallest of the bunch. She loves a good lap spot and is runner up for best hunter.`

Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

More about this rescue

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
