My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I`m Nova. I grew up in a foster home with my 7 siblings, and mom! My mom`s name is Quasar, she is also looking for her forever home, and my siblings are Blazar, Sloan, Galaxy, Cosmos, Hubble, Stellar, and Seyfert. Now that my siblings and I are all grown up I`m in search of my forever home!

This is what my foster mom has to say about me, `Nova is confident, outgoing, and friendly. She is the spitting image of her gorgeous mama. She is super playful and is obsessed with circuit ball toys. She loves belly rubs and will plop on the ground next to you to get some. She has also recently decided she would like to be a lap cat…which comes with a hardy purr. She is first in line for breakfast with a couple meows to let me know she is ready.`

Their adoption process

1.
Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
