Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
Location: Troy, MO
Gretl is from a puppy mill where she received little to no human socialization and she is uncertain of people and the world around her. She was either a puppy that didn't sell or intended to be kept for future breeding 'stock', either way, this girl was left with no love for months!
Gretl is learning to trust foster mom, but she must go slow and be on her level. She is accepting of under hand pets, but over the head is scary to her. She is a small girl and came in underweight. She has some resource guarding issues likely as the result of having to fight for food. She will need a family that is patient and can work with her and help her be a sweet and confident Cavalier.
She will need a home with a canine companion and a secure physical fenced yard. She just needs love, confidence and time, then her true self will shine!
Gretl's adoption is $500. She is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and on monthly heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application.
We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet.
Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

We are a volunteer ran rescue and all of our dogs are in foster homes. We focus on puppy mill dogs and senior dogs at animal control or owner surrenders. We ensure all dogs have been completely vetted before going to their new home.
