Dutches is silly, quirky dog who loves to be in the middle of the action. She came to DREAM after her owner was unable to afford her vetting. She had very large bladder stones that now have been removed. Good news, they are the type of stone that is managed by keeping her on a special dry kibble. Dutchess experienced a IVDD back injury 2 years ago. She is able to walk some but does need assistance expressing bladder and bowels. But this does Not slow her down! Dutches is very loving with adults, older kids and other doggies. She certainly has a zest for life and is ready to find her loving person or people!
DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe Dutches really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. One of the original board members wrote this extremely helpful book about day to day life with a "down dog".... Honey Have You Squeezed the Dachshund .
If you are interested in adopting Dutches, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our
online adoption application. Dutches's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Dutches will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
