My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Sandra D, or Sandy as my foster family calls me. I recently came to Minnesota from Arkansas after The Bond Between rescued me and my friends. I just experienced my first snow, and let me tell you, Minnesota is FUN!

I love people, oh how I love people. I'm excited to meet everyone! I won't be shy about leaning in for more pets, or rolling over for belly rubs. I like other dogs too, and enjoyed play groups with my dog friends before I came to Minnesota. I want to play with the resident dog at my foster home, but she's an old lady and isn't always excited to play with me. I haven't been tested with cats.

Being a beagle mix, my hound nose is always working, and I can be entertained for a long time just sniffing around the yard. My foster family has given me all kinds of toys, but I don't really know what to do with them yet, I'm still learning. I'm a pretty quiet girl. I don't bark, and I only whine a little bit when I'm really excited or when my foster parents leave for work. My foster mom works from home some days, and she says I'm a very respectful officemate. I just nap on a dog bed in her office.

I already know some commands, like "sit and "come and I'm fully housetrained. I haven't had any accidents in my foster home. My foster mom says I have good recall. I don't even need a treat as a reward for coming when called, I'm happy to earn ear scratches and an enthusiastic "good girl!

Might there be a place for me at your home?

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

For more information on fostering or adoptable animals, please visit https://www.thebondbetween.org.

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
