My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COMET is a typical sweet, smart, young (1 to 3 years old), ~90 lbs malamute/husky who entered a local rural shelter during the 4th of July overflow where he was undoubtedly very scared. He is housetrained, does not counter surf or get into trash, and stays off of furniture and bed. He waits patiently for his food.

COMET walks great on a leash and seems to know about heel speed.

COMET loves to talk and loves the snow and mountains.

We would love a foster home for COMET so that we can learn more about him. Comet wants to play but recently after another dog attacked him and injured his face and paw (requiring a drain and stitches) he is reserved and dog-selective.

At this time, he does not appear to enjoy the company of all dogs (this may resolve itself given a little time), but for now, he should be the only dog.

BACKGROUND: COMET was rescued from a local, rural shelter that became over-crowded.

Additional adoption info

We require a foster or adoption application to qualify to foster or adopt our animals. We do check your current veterinary reference and landlord approval if renting. The next step is a "meet and greet" with all family members and/or household occupants, and current pets. Upon approval, we offer a "trial adoption" period that allows adopter to make sure of a good fit for both the dog and family. Adoption is final when adoption contract (different from application) is filled out and signed, and adoption fee is paid. Our adoption fees range from $75 - $300 (puppies) currently, but are subject to revision if our veterinary costs rise.
