Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet IRIS,
Besides her obvious resiliency, IRIS is a healthy, happy, 72-lb 11-month old who is ready to join a loving family in a furever home. She is done with caring for her 9 babies born on July 27 and would now like to receive some pampering by a furever family.
IRIS is a working dog, her dna test shows she’s 49% shorthair pointer, 49% bloodhound, and 1% Great Dane so she would be fantastic with a job & being outside! As many know, boarding is no place for a dog that needs a job.
IRIS loves attention and enjoys lounging on the couch with her humans. This sweet girl expresses her joy with the occasional bay, a charming trait of her hound nature.
IRIS Lovesss other dogs, didn’t mind the house cats, and does amazing around other livestock. She is gentle, affectionate, and loves to wind down and get cozy on the couch with her people. IRIS' gentle and affectionate demeanor suggests that she’ll make a wonderful addition to any home.
If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, IRIS is eager to meet you and become a cherished member of your family.
BACKGROUND: Found alone in the desert, IRIS was emaciated and dehydrated. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers at FFAR, she received the medical care she needed and has since made a remarkable recovery.

We require a foster or adoption application to qualify to foster or adopt our animals. We do check your current veterinary reference and landlord approval if renting. The next step is a "meet and greet" with all family members and/or household occupants, and current pets. Upon approval, we offer a "trial adoption" period that allows adopter to make sure of a good fit for both the dog and family. Adoption is final when adoption contract (different from application) is filled out and signed, and adoption fee is paid. Our adoption fees range from $75 - $300 (puppies) currently, but are subject to revision if our veterinary costs rise.
