My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Halo: Your Playful Guardian Angel

Hi, there! I’m Halo, your future bestie sent straight from heaven. I’m a 4-year-old terrier mix, about 49 pounds of love and fluff. Don’t let my age fool you - I’ve got the playful spirit of a puppy! I have a few lumps that are being monitored, but I’m spayed and a happy, healthy girlie. I came to The Animal Pad after being a guardian angel to my own seven pups. Now that my little miracles have found furever homes, it’s my turn to shine!

I’m a big fan of humans and will happily snuggle up with you after a day of fun. I’ve got BIG energy, so if you’re into playing, running around, or tossing me a Kong stuffed with yummy treats, we’re going to be a match made, well…in heaven! I also love yak chews and bully sticks - they’re perfect for a pup like me who loves to keep busy.

I’m still learning some things, like being less reactive on a leash. Other dogs on walks aren’t really my thing right now, but with the right training and patience, I know I’ll improve. Even though I’m selective about doggy friends, I do great with the big dogs in my foster home. I’m not sure about cats, and I’ve only met kids while on a leash, but I seem to like them.

Training-wise, I’m already crate-trained and working hard on my house training. I don’t get anxious when you leave the house, but I’d love a yard where I can stretch my legs and play without needing walks every day.

Why adopt me? I’ve been through a lot and have so much love to give. With your patience and care, I’ll be the most loyal, playful, and affectionate companion you could ever ask for. If you’re looking for an angel in dog-form, I’m ready to land right in your heart!

My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
