My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Timmy: Your New Best Friend!

Hi, my name is Timmy! I’m a lovable, 20-pound Terrier mix who will be 6 months old this December. I’m a little shy at first, but my wagging tail will let you know how excited I am to meet you! I adore giving face kisses as a friendly greeting and love spending time with people, whether we’re playing or snuggling on the couch.

About Me
I’m fostered with my brother, Tommy, and we’re the best of pals. He’s the leader, but I’m happy to follow his lead as we play, nap, and explore together.
I’m great with other dogs of all sizes! I love playing outside with the big dogs in my foster home, chasing them, rolling around, and zooming across the yard. Indoors, I’m a cuddler and even love snuggling up with the older male dog in my foster home.
I’m curious about the cats here but prefer to admire them from a safe distance—I’m a little too shy to get too close.

My Personality
I’m a sweet, gentle, and laid-back pup who also has an energetic, playful side when the zoomies strike! I love whipping my toys around, chasing my foster siblings, and showing off how fast I can run.
When it’s time to relax, I’m a pro at napping, especially on the couch or near my favorite humans.

Training & Skills
I’m picking up potty training quickly and rarely have accidents indoors.
I sleep peacefully in my crate at night without any fuss or messes.
I’m learning commands like “no” and my name. I take treats gently and sit nicely when it’s snack time.
I walk well on a leash but really enjoy running freely in the yard.

What I’m Looking For
I’d thrive in a home with adults who can give me lots of love and attention. I enjoy the company of other dogs and would love a furry sibling to play and snuggle with. While I’m friendly with adults, I’d do best in a home without children.

I’m a quiet and affectionate pup who will bring so much joy and love to the right family. Could that be yours?

More about this rescue

We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.

The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.

Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.

We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
