Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This 3-month-old Collie/Lab mix is a playful, confident puppy who’s ready to bring fun and love into his forever home! At just 16 pounds, Mookie's curious personality and adorable little face are sure to win you over in no time.
Mookie is the life of the party! He loves being outside, running, playing, and exploring the world around him. His favorite toys include balls and ropes, and he never says no to a game of fetch or tug-of-war. Mookie is an active pup with a high energy level, so he’ll need plenty of exercise and outdoor time to keep him happy and healthy. A fenced yard will be required in his future home for Mookie to burn off some of his boundless energy. He’ll thrive in a family that can provide lots of physical activity, and of course, some well-earned cuddles after a day of play.
Mookie is always happy to make new friends! This social pup does well with other dogs and is friendly and playful, though he can be a little cautious around larger, louder dogs. He has also been around cats and approaches them with curiosity and care, making him a good candidate for homes with feline friends. When he's met other human friends, Mookie adores kids but may need a bit of guidance to keep his excitement in check, as he has a habit of jumping up when he’s ready to play.
Like most puppies, Mookie is still learning house training and will benefit from consistency and patience. He’s crate-trained and sleeps through the night in his crate, happily settling in for short periods during the day as well. While Mookie is not particularly vocal, he has not yet been left alone for extended periods and may need some time to adjust to being apart from his siblings.
With his outgoing personality and adventurous nature, he’ll make a wonderful companion for a family that can give him the time, structure, and love he needs to grow into a well-rounded adult dog. If you’re looking for a loyal and energetic pup who will bring joy and laughter to your days, Mookie is ready to meet you!

The adoption fee is $550. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
