Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Matiz entered San Bernardino City Shelter as a stray, and when not claimed, he soon was scheduled to be euthanized. Fortunately, we had a kennel become available and made Matiz a Frosted Face on November 27th. He is around 10 years old and weighs 51 lbs.
Upon Matiz's arrival at FFF, he got a good bath and brushing, and he went on our group hike the next day, Thanksgiving. During his intake exam, our on-site veterinarian treated Matiz's ruptured ear hematoma and diagnosed an old fractured hip. This tells us he was likely a stray on another occasion too, as those kinds of fractures are often caused by being hit by a car. Thankfully, Matiz doesn't seem to be in pain. Isn't it amazing how resilient dogs are?
Matiz is a very sweet boy, and we can see why shelter volunteers advocated so strongly for his rescue. He just left on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we can learn more about him in a home environment.
Check back soon for an update on how Matiz is doing in his Fling home with a baby and another dog!
